The sign-up sheet for the Women’s 4.3.2.1 tournament, which will be held on Sunday, July 9th is posted. The format is the usual three 100-point games.  (Sounds daunting, but it really isn’t.  100 points just fly by.  Next thing you know, the first game is over, it’s lunch time and you are back on the green ready to face your second opponent, puffing and panting.)

Secondly, the 12th Annual EB Australian DRAW Pairs Tournament, held on Thursday, July 13th.  Three 12-end games.  Now, doesn’t that sound easy?  Twelve little ends.  You can do it!  I know you can! After lunch, and before the second games, we will be having a “spider” with the winner receiving a bottle of cheap, lousy Australian wine. As per tradition, anyone born in Australia will play for free. (I will be checking passports…) After the games are over, there will be beer, wine, etc. and oodles of high gluten foods with lots of calories, trans-fat and other non-healthy stuff!

The sign-up sheet for the 2017 Men’s Handicap Singles, to be played on Sunday, July 30.  Format will be the usual four 18-point games.  The fee is $6 (exact change appreciated); sign-ups close Sunday, July 23.  WE ALSO NEED MARKERS TO SIGN UP ON THE SHEET, INDEPENDENTLY OF ANY BOWLERS.  Finally, if one of the bowlers would volunteer for breakfast/lunch hospitality duties that day (see bottom of the sheet), all would be well.  Since this is a handicap event, all you less experienced bowlers are especially encouraged to sign up and play; the broader the range/mix of handicaps, the better!

2017 PIMD Playdowns

On Thursday, July 27, a new event will appear on our schedule:  the Arnie Barros Mixed Singles (sponsored by Angie and John Peet—thanks much!—in honor of Arnie’s 95th birthday!).  In an attempt to diversify the range of competition in this mixed tournament with no handicap involvement, we will be featuring a special format:  five 8-end games!  Most singles competitions are set to a fixed number of points per game, not ends.  We hope to keep play evenly balanced by using the 8-end format, and we hope the five games will give everyone opportunity to face a reasonable range of opponents over the day.  We urge everyone in the club to consider participating, old and young, male and female, high and low handicappers!  Angie and John want to try something different, and hope that this will attract lotsa folks.  The broader the mix, the more successful the day should be.  The usual $6 entry fee will be in effect.  Sign-ups close on Thursday, July 20.  So sign up early and often (well, early, anyway…) and help make this an event to remember.
